WORK
Foreign nationals require authorization to work in Canada with some exceptions. You might be eligible for an open/closed work permit depending on your situation and what work you are going to perform in Canada. Some factors that define the nature and type of your work permit are:
- You are the spouse of a skilled worker or a student
- You have completed studies in Canada
- You have applied for permanent residency and are awaiting a decision
- Your office in a foreign nation deputes you to its Canadian branch/subsidiary/affiliate office
- Your work is religious or charitable in nature
- An employer in Canada has offered you a job under the LMIA or LMIAE category
- You have applied for any other immigration program such as an entrepreneur/start-up visa that allows you to work in Canada before your permanent resident application is approved.
